High-Tech Dentistry
Advanced technology and skilled dental treatment
Durham Dentist Marcia Rementer uses advanced technology to craft crowns and other dental restorations in our office.
Durham dentist Marcia Rementer has been at the forefront of advanced dental technology for more than 30 years. For her patients, this means painless, experienced dental treatment, and beautiful, healthy smiles.
In 1996, Dr. Rementer was one of the first area dentists to introduce air abrasion, a painless method of dealing with tooth decay without drilling. In 1999, Dr. Rementer pioneered the CEREC (CEeramic REConstruction) computer-assisted milling system. CEREC permits Dr. Rementer to beautiful, durable all-ceramic crowns, inlays, onlays, veneers and fillings, in our office, without waiting for an external lab. Dr. Rementer has used the CEREC system to place thousands of ceramic restorations
More recently, in 2009, Dr. Rementer introduced an all-inclusive implant center where patients can have both the implants placed in the jaw and the teeth restored (crown, bridge, denture) right in her Durham office. And using the new Galileos Conebeam scanner, Dr. Rementer can get a compete and detailed CT scan for your head, neck and jaw, here in our office, in about 14 seconds.

One-Visit CEREC technology
We'll make your new crown right here in our office, from a block of Empress porcelain.
With breakthrough CEREC technology, Dr. Rementer has a complete computer-aided laboratory, right here in her own office.
Traditional crowns can take up to three visits and the use of a temporary to fully restore your tooth. They can be made of metal or metal fused to porcelain, which may be unattractive or incompatible with your body chemistry. With CEREC (CERamic REConstruction) technology you can get a permament crown in a in a single visit, while you are in the chair! CEREC's precision 3D technology allows us to create a customized crown that fits your tooth perfectly, matches the rest of your teeth in color, shape and size, and is completely biocompatible with your own tooth structure.
CEREC restorations are milled from a single block of high-quality Empress porcelain, one of the most aesthetic and durable porcelains, and a substance that is particularly compatible with the body. CEREC restorations are made under controlled conditions for the best construction and to get them as close to a natural tooth structure as possible.

.Galileos Conebeam Scanner
The Galileos takes more than 400 separate pictures in just 14 second, with very low radiation.
The GALILEOS Conebeam CT Scanner allows Dr. Rementer to take detailed, 3D x-rays of your head, jaw and neck. It combines the lowest radiation dosage with superior image quality. Dr. Rementer uses these x-rays to examine a complete, three dimensional image of your mouth, jaw and skull.

"The Wand" painless injection system
Our patients say that Dr. Remener’s computer-controlled injections are completely painfree. Because the pain associated with injections comes almost exclusively from the flow of the anesthetic into the body, computer-controlled distribution ensures that pain can be completely eliminated. The anesthetic flows evenly into the system so that only the exact part of the mouth being treated is numbed, and it does it with such accuracy that it is in fact painless.
Air Abrasion drill-less cavity treatment
Dr. Rementer has used this excellent tool for dealing with tooth decay for more than 13 years. Air abrasion is a drill-less technique for removing tooth decay and for other minimally invasive applications. It wipes away tooth decay with a gentle stream of concentrated air and mild abrasive. All you hear is the sound of air passing over the tooth-no whining drill and no injection.
Digital X-rays
Dr. Rementer will review your digital x-rays with you before starting your treatment.
Digital x-rays have less radiation that traditional x-ray machines and there is no need for processing film of the image. You’ll find that they are very quick and comfortable. Your X-rays can be seen by Dr. Rementer within seconds of taking them. Then she can go over the results with you on our in-room computer screens.
Intraoral camera
Intraoral cameras are tiny digital cameras that fit comfortably in your mouth and enable Dr. Rementer to show you an enlarged image of your smile on a computer screen.
Pro Select Ultrasonic Periodental system
This sophisticated device allows Dr. Rementer to handle gum treatment easily and comfortably, without the need for gum surgery. Learn more about Pro Select Periodontal Treatment.

DIAGNOdent
Comfortable, laser-assisted cavity detection
The traditional way to detect tooth decay was by touching the surface of the teeth with a metal probe. If the metal probe stuck, then there was a cavity.
Using DIAGNOdent laser technology, Dr. Rementer can detect early tooth decay without taking the chance of missing cavities. The laser probe detects even the smallest problems before they become large, and it does so painlessly.
